On our second day in the city we decided to take a boat tour of the Golden Gate Bridge as well as other sites. It's amazing the different perspective you get when you are out on the ocean and looking back at the city. We did see so much more on the tour but my little camera had a difficult time capturing it all. From the boat we could see the Presidio as well as portions of the coast and some of the outlying islands.

This was one of the first things we saw on the tour, S.S. Jeremiah O'Brien circa WWII.
It was pretty windy and chilly. This was the best seat in the house. Syd is listening to an recording that gives all the history of what we were seeing.

Our tour guide!
The Golden Gate Bridge. Can you imagine hanging under this bridge every day for your job? Well people do. The crew that maintains the bridge paints every day. They start on one end and work their way each day towards the other end. When they get to the end they turn around and start back! While we were under her we could see a hanging basket like thing but again my camera couldn't capture the image very well at that distance.
She's a beauty.
Alcatraz and it's surrounding buildings. I have no idea what the burned out looking house could have been???

After we got off the boat we walked over to Ghirardelli Square. This is Ariel although she is showing a little more than the Disney version but she is still just beautiful. I wish I could have captured more detail for you.

A famous rock star!
Local street vendors offered the prettiest flowers I have ever seen.
I wanted them all but they wouldn't fit in my suitcase!

I think your camera captured everything perfectly. Your photos turned out great! The flowers are beautiful. xoxo
i love your shots of the Golden Gate Bridge. i suddenly miss San Francisco!
Thanks for the 'virtual tour' of San Francisco. My sister and her husband are visiting their son who lives there currently so your timing is perfect ;-)
Hugs and blessings,

Did you know that the lighthouse on Alcatraz is the first one built on the West Coast? It was built in 1853, during the California Gold Rush.
Thanks for a lovely visit to one of my favorite cities.
Oh, I love San Francisco! I toured it years ago, and I did everything from Alcatraz (which was fascinating) to a tour of the city's fine homes. It was for a convention of economic developers from around the country. It is a lovely place. Thanks for these great pics. My sister lived in Sausalito and San Rafael years ago.
Happy Outdoor Wednesday!
XO,
Sheila :-)
What absolutely gorgeous flowers! Never been to San Francisco, although I still hope to make it there one of these days. Thanks for the wonderful tour!
I really enjoyed the pictures of your day. It looks like you all had a grand time. Have a wonderful Outdoor Wednesday and a great holiday season.
The last visit we had was in 2005, and your photos make me want to go back!
Your shots of the Palace of Fine Arts are also beautiful! We were there too!
I enjoyed a visit to San Francisco several years ago. We didn't take a boat tour, though. I wonder if the burned out building was the Warden's house or maybe a dormitory for the guards. I don't know if they lived on the island or not.
The flowers are beautiful.
