Butterfly Grove........

Pismo Beach has a Monarch Butterfly Grove on highway 1.  Each year thousands of vibrant orange and black Monarch Butterflies flock to Pismo Beach, seeking shelter from the freezing northern winters. From late October to February, the butterflies cluster in the limbs of a grove of Eucalyptus trees at Pismo State Beach.IMG_0595 IMG_0393 IMG_0591IMG_0556 IMG_0586 IMG_0585 IMG_0581 IMG_0573IMG_0565 IMG_0542 IMG_0552 IMG_0547IMG_0507 IMG_0532 This guys was just hanging out.IMG_0526 IMG_0521 IMG_0485 IMG_0502 IMG_0498 IMG_0494 IMG_0490 IMG_0458 IMG_0481 IMG_0473 IMG_0469 IMG_0466 IMG_0463 IMG_0409 IMG_0454 IMG_0445 IMG_0417 IMG_0414 IMG_0589I hope you enjoyed the butterflies.  Join me tomorrow for a coffee break by the beach.  Don't miss out on Jill's Cranberry Harvest Muffins, they will make you hungry just looking at them.

Beautiful pictures -- once, a long time ago, I happened to find a Monarch's overnight stop on their way to warmer climes. It was a sight to see and I sight I'll never forget. I went back for a couple of years but alas -- no more butterflies!

Oh My Gosh Denise...
Sweetie these are just magnificent. I love all of the butterflies in the clusters. Aren't they just so colorful and free. Free to roam wherever and to fly free. I think I would be at Pismo beach everyday photographing them all. What a wonderous site this must be in person. Beautiful photography.

Thank you for sharing this beautiful experience. I am so thrilled that you shared with me this evening.

Country hugs sweetie...Sherry

Hi Denise, the monarchs are just fleeting and gorgeous! And the cute dog blends in too, with its orange and black fur!
How lucky could you be so close to Pismo Beach.

Enjoy the beauty of nature!

Denise, Although this is fascinating, I'm glad that you're not the Florida sister--you see, I'm scared of butterflies, and I'd hate to think that these pictures were taken in Florida! Thanks for sharing. Happy OW.
