Sloppy Joes.......

IMG_5050 copy I love how I can turn most meals vegetarian even sloppy joes.  Here is a my vegetarian version of sloppy joes, it is quick and easy. The same day I made my vegetarian joes PW did a post on her sloppy joes, so of course I had to check out how she made hers. The one thing that caught my attention the most was the picture of her having to drain the fat from her meat.  I don't have to do that with mine, but it got me thinking I wonder what the difference is in fat and calories between mine to hers.  I googled fat in beef and this is what I found out.
Beef depending on the range of leanness for 3 ounces of meat has 214-248 calories and 11-17 grams of fat, which is 4.3-6.5 saturated fat and 83-86 milligrams of cholesterol.
Compared to 1/3 cup of meatless meat is only 60 calories, .5 grams of fat, 0 saturated fat and 0 cholesterol.  That is a big difference to me, I will stick to my version!

1 package of Yves meatless meat
1 can of sloppy Joe mix (you can make your own, but why?  When it is all in one little package for you).  Remember I like quick and easy meals!
¼ cup Mozzarella cheese or sliced Mozzarella
Buns
Chopped garlic and garlic salt
IMG_4993 copy Preheat broiler. Lay buns out on cookie sheet drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with garlic salt. Broil for 1 minute or until crisp. Take out of oven and cover with cheese and put back under the broiler until cheese is melted.  You could also wait to melt cheese on top of the sloppy joe mix.  Depends on what you prefer.IMG_5002 copy IMG_5006 copyIMG_5007 copyIMG_5017 copyIMG_5020 copyIMG_5033 copy    Cook meatless meat, garlic salt and garlic when warmed up then add sloppy Joe mix. Cook for five minutes or so until sauce is completely heated.IMG_4997 copyIMG_5009 copyIMG_5026 copy Place a scoop of sloppy Joe mix on top of cheese topped bun. Repeat for each bun.IMG_5049 copy We like to eat ours open faced style they are just to messy to eat as a sandwich.IMG_5036 copy
