Who wants a smoothie?

I love smoothies and so does my family. We make them often, for breakfast or snacks. I like to make my kido a smoothie and sneak in some really good stuff. What happens in the kitchen, stays in the kitchen! The beauty of these tasty and nutritious drinks is that you can put almost anything in them and have them at any time of the year. The smoothie we are making today is using some canned fruit, frozen fruit and fresh fruit that has seen better days. The point is, you can have fruit in any season when it's canned or frozen. I have to admit I prefer frozen but in a pinch, canned will do. If you have some fruit that's getting ready to go bad, don't waste it and throw it out. Instead throw it in the blender and no one need be the wiser. While no one is looking how about throwing in some wheat germ, or vegetarian protein powder?? How about some oatmeal? All of this stuff works and still has great flavor even to those short picky people you find yourself feeding all the time! Sometimes you can sneak in good stuff to big picky people.

Ingredients:
8oz organic yogurt, any flavor will do
1 cup each of various frozen berries or fruit, I used a berry blend and blueberries
1 cup of canned pineapple, or use fresh or frozen or none
1 cup of strawberries, fresh but mine were starting to go, cut off tops and wash
1/2 cup of juice, any kind will do, I used combo orange & pineapple blend
Blender, this is a must have. I'm sure you could try the boat motor immersion things but not so much!
First step is to plug in the blender. I find this a useful step! Start off first in the blender with soft stuff, we did the pineapple. I know people say to use the frozen stuff first but I find when I do this I have to blend longer and it's not as smooth.

Then add the yogurt, frozen fruit, fresh fruit, and juice. No need to add ice as the frozen fruit acts as the ice!

Blend well, add more juice if you think it's too thick. Serve immediately.

If by chance you have some left over, add it to" make your own" popsicle containers and you have a great frozen snack for big and little people. Some big people might want to add adult libations to their smoothies. Kitchen secrets such as this need not be revealed but have you ever noticed what a good mood the Chef is in????
